Learn to read with the Alphablocks phonics first steps Volume 1

My boys love watching cbeebies and especially the love to learn thread that is shown at 9am and 1pm, so when I was asked if I'd like to review the new alphablocks DVD I jumped at the chance.

The DVD comes with a free alphablocks phonics poster which the boys both loved so much they insisted it was put straight on their wall.

The DVD its self runs for 86 minutes and has 18 episodes which are

Letter sounds
Taps
In
Man
Din
Dog
Kick
Cat
Dot
Pen
Up
Red
Hen
Bop
Top
Fred
Lips
Hill

It also has a section called steps which shows the steps in which are learnt and this supports the early years curriculum phonics teaching style

The section I was most interested in was the parent guide the parent guide is a read through guide which tells you how you can help your child to learn the phonics and ultimately learn to read, I found this really interesting as I'm of an age where phonics wasn't taught in schools and as such wasn't sure how to help the tiny 3.

The boys loved watching the episodes of the alphablocks on this DVD, they watched all 18 episodes 3 times in a row and my boys never sit still to watch anything!

I would really recommend this DVD to anyone who has pre-school children that are ready to learn the phonic sounds i think the optimum age to start would be around 2.5 years old and can be used right through early years education.

Here's the press release bit:
